Blogging while Latino is alive in L.A.

Couple of new ones to me, just as Daniel Hernandez prepares to decamp to Mexico City. Abel Salas, who has written for the New York Times, L.A. Times Magazine and a bunch of other pubs, posts Ombligo Sereno de la Luna from El Sereno. Or as he says, "From the hills of El Sereno to the mountains of Chiapas, the poetry of moontide gravity and the eternal pull exerted by the womb of our history and the birthplace of mestizaje are gathered here in a trajectory that runs from East Los to Neza, with pit stops along Interstate 10 from Texas to the Santa Monica pier thrown in for good measure." He interviewed me for the LAT Magazine — at the HMS Bounty — when my Wilshire book came out. I just learned from his blog that Jesse Katz has gone on leave from Los Angeles Magazine to write his book "about fatherhood, baseball, mixed marriage, being an honorary Latino and the power of Los Angeles to transform and transcend all of the above." Also, I recently met novelist Margo Candela, who blogs here about the writing life in Culver City (and the West Hollywood Book Fair panel we shared), and author-blogger Sandra Ramos O'Briant.
